Bregenz Christmas Markets

Sunday December 9th
I took a break from skiing today, because I went Monday too, and just relaxed and went to a couple Bregenz chirstmas markets with my host family. First, we went to the main market in the middle of Bregenz – the one I saw shortly with Mark. There were a lot more lights, people, stands and festivities in general though, since it was the weekend. We passed through quickly, and admired the stands, but it was very cold so we kept moving. Next we went up the the old city market. Back when Bregenz was more of a fortress than a city, it had large city walls enclosing it. Now, that part of the city is called the Alte Stadt, and is home to some of the most beautiful churches and homes. There was a very nice little market with hand-made goods there, and we looked around for a little while before going up in the tower. Up above we got a piece of cake and looked at a little museum and could see the little market down below. We got a hot drink and a snack at one of the stands, then returned home.
