At the Bödele House with Friends

Monday February 4th
The snow had been so heavy and the wind so strong that there was about a foot and a half of fresh snow to shovel out the next morning. Bruno got on it and shoveled a path out to the run so we could go skiing. It was another amazing day, just like the day before except with a little better visibility. I met up with Thomas early on and we shredded some fresh powder for about an hour. Morti was on his snowboard so he went to get his skis from the main base area (they got a tune up and he had a binding problem. Thomas an I skied on our own before going to get something to drink and meet with Fabian at one of the restaurants, the one also at the main base area. Morti joined us first, then Fabian followed. We all skied together (Fabian on snowboard) and I was invited to spend the night with them at Thomas’s house (also on Bödele). I was sick, for the entire time, so I decided against it. It was annoying to have a cold and my ear was ringing but I couldn’t stay grumpy with a minimum of a foot of new snow every day. Back at the house Marko gave me a tour of both houses. I took pictures, but as to protect the contents of the house from potential thieves I was asked not post any pictures of the inside, which is understandable. The main house consists of two verandas, a main dining room, a large hall, a kitchen and multiple bedrooms and storage rooms I never got to see. Also it had a large room that used to be for making cheese and two large back rooms for wood storage and miscellaneous things. I never went into the barn or little church. Half of the main house belongs to my host dad, the rest to his cousin. The smaller house that we stayed in was still large. There are 2 seating areas and a veranda, one of which was used for ski equipment and the veranda was to cold for use. There is a kitchen also on the bottom floor and a tiny corner bathroom. Upstairs I a shower and all of the bedrooms. There are 5 bedrooms on the top floor, each are a reasonable size. There were 3 small beds in my room with Morti. The central heating system was a large porcelain (I think) box where they would burn would. It was in between the kitchen and the main table. The whole large box would heat up from the fire and warm up the house. Little holes in the floor of each bedroom would warm them up from the same air as below. They had back up electric room heaters that they could plug in too, but we hardly needed them.

The storm wouldn't quit
