Coming Down from the Mountain

Thursday February 7th
As the last day on the mountain we got up and went straight to packing. It was snowing so hard the night before that the lift wasn’t running. Since it’s a rope tow they couldn’t groom the lift-track without it getting filled back up with snow immediately. We gathered the remaining food, had a nice lunch, and took the leftovers. Then we hauled the luggage outside to the groomer to be picked up again by the man on the Skidoo. Since they own the land that the lift runs on they made an exception and started up the lift just for us. We were towed up an unprepared track through the fresh snow and then skied down to the parking lot. The luggage was waiting for us and Marko was already at the car. It turned out that only Martina’s Land Rover was able to get out of the snow. When we went to get Marko and Brunos cars they were invisible underneath a mountain of snow. It ended up taking about an hour of shoveling to free Bruno, and a tractor was needed to get Marko’s Passat moving. It was an insane amount of snow. I rode with Martina back to the apartment where we unloaded all of the stuff and relaxed at home for the rest of the day.

Too much snow for the resort to handle! haha!

I was sad to leave

Me in front of the snowed in house

Just to give some perspective

This is an unusual amount of snow, even for Bödele

Martina taking the path out

Bruno, Morti, Johanna, Martina, and Angelika

Same, except with me instead of Bruno

Blazing our own trail

That used to be a barn. Can't really see it to good no more

At the bottom

Martinas car popped right out

Bruno's was a different story

I say good luck to whoever owns these cars

Driving back down

Back in Dornbirn (only about 10 minutes from Bödele)

I love that view. Always get it on the way back down from skiing
