Saturday January 26th
I went with Morti and Conrad to Germany today. First we woke
up and took the bus/train to Bregenz before taking another bus up into the
Bregenzerwald, and across the border. At the bus stop Conrad’s father came and
picked us up to take us to their home. But on a whim on the way there we
stopped at an ice race. It was wild, there was a big snowy field made into a
race track. The cars and buggy’s were hauling through straightaways and
drifting around huge corners. It was awesome to put it plainly. We got to see
some of the cars being adjusted and prepared, some have double engines, and all
were extremely loud. We watched a couple races, first between normal cars, and
also of some buggy-like cars. We got a Glühwein and then headed home to
Conrad’s house. Upon arrival we dropped our bags in our rooms (they were kind
enough to give me an entire room to myself) and settled in a little bit. We had
a delicious dinner then took the car to head to the concert. Morti, Conrad, and
I as well as both of Conrad’s parents. The adults met with some of their
friends, who had kids, and together the kids went to wait in line amongst the
thousands of other people in Kempton. First we went and waited inside a mall across
the street (it was a really cold night) and got something to drink. Finally,
the line began to move so we got our tickets out and entered the stadium. It
was built to hold I think 4,000 people, but they sold 8,000 tickets. It was
packed. We checked our coats and joined the mosh of people. Another German
rapper opened for him, then finally Cro got on stage. He is one of the most
popular German musical artists of our generation, and has many radio hits. The
crowd was wild, there was beach balls bouncing and people jumping, it was a
really cool atmosphere. He was pretty good live and put on an entertaining
show. When it was finished we grabbed a Döner and walked through the lamp lit
streets. I think Kempton would be cool to visit another time and check it out a
little bit more in depth. We walked through the main shopping streets and down
past another gigantic church. Conrad’s parents picked us up and we drove back
to their house for the night.
What's up with the snow cars and the "CRO" concert?
